Executive Director

DETROIT WAYNE COUNTY PORT AUTHORITY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION:

The Detroit Wayne County Port Authority is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Port Executive Director.

The Executive Director is considered the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority and reports directly to the Board of Directors.

This position will manage and oversee all functions of the Authority, including finance, marketing, business development, operations, personnel, engineering, construction, asset acquisition, asset maintenance, security, contract negotiation and management, and public relations. He or she will assist the Board of Directors with establishing and implementing short- and long-term Authority goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in international logistics and will have worked with private and public entities to promote increased use of logistics infrastructure to move Michigan products to domestic and international markets.

The successful candidate in this position will work on-site at the Detroit Wayne County Port Authority in Detroit, Michigan.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, International Affairs, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Port Authority experience strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in government financing, including grants and bonds.
  • Experience in government affairs preferred, but not required
  • Five to seven years of professional experience (10 years preferred) in upper management, transportation, program administration, planning, and policy development.
